A fascist school class rebels against the system-critical teacher; as a disciplinary punishment, the class and teacher must immediately go to a military camp. There they are prepared for war, and in the course of this, a student dies. What happened, and who is responsible? A cold-blooded murderer? The silent teacher? The fascist system? With "Jugend ohne Gott" we want to open a discussion about where moral cowardice ends and civic courage begins. In a time when conviction is often demanded but rarely lived, we are setting a current social impulse. Over the last six months, we at StuThe (Studierenden Theater Zürich) have restaged and modernised the play to build a bridge from the fiction of the past to the world we all live in, here and now.
