Great long form is great acting. In this class we treat improv as theatre: you listen, react truthfully, and discover who your character is and what they want as the scene unfolds, then commit to it with your whole body and the whole stage. You will practise: Listening and truthful reactions: responding to what’s really happening, so scenes feel alive instead of planned. Discovering character: letting who they are, what they want and how they relate to others emerge from the scene, then committing to what you find. Presence and stagecraft: physicality, voice and use of space, so your choices read clearly from the audience. Relationships and sustained scenes: staying with a scene, letting tension and intimacy build, and trusting a story that develops slowly. Story and momentum: noticing where a scene is going and helping it build, with a beginning, a middle and an end. Genre and tropes using them as shortcuts to build scenes and characters quickly (how to cheat). Directing: shaping a story from outside.
